In Scripture, orphans symbolize loss, defenselessness, and the unraveling of society. Their incredible need demands advocacy. The children are separated from their parents, their source of provision and protection, so God protects them. We are to look after orphans in their distress. These children are essential to God and should be essential to us.
Over the years, the Peter Sayklon Orphanage has provided what we believe should be available to every child: a loving home, clothing, food, access to education, and someone to care for them.
The Sayklons lack the support they need to care for the orphans they house. Please donate to our appeal and help us support those most in need. Your financial support provides opportunities for more children to receive a proper education through our ‘Teacher Jeanette No Child Left Behind’ program. It also helps the Sayklons restart their poultry farming, ensuring that the children receive nutritious meals, and funding enabling repairs and upgrading their school building.
We endeavor to help build a school in Borlorla Town, a rural settlement in Bong County, for the first time. This town has NEVER had a school even though over two hundred children ages 3-14 years live in the community. Due to the lack of Schools, most of the children will grow up uneducated. If there is no opportunity for a better life, most of the children are likely to end up as subsistent farmers, hunters, or gardeners just as it is in many rural settlements with little or no opportunity for education. The nearest school is about 25 to 30 minutes’ walk away, making it difficult and unsafe for children of such an age group to travel.
With our intervention in establishing the Teacher Jeanette No Child Left Behind educational program in this town, there is a vivid relief from the educational challenge faced by the people of Borlorla and surrounding towns and villages as we work hard towards fulfilling our goal to help children living in orphanages and other rural communities with no access to school, meet the basic needs of updated primary education in Liberia.
As we collaborate with the people of Borlorla Town and surrounding villages to construct a modern Elementary School, we are asking for your support and collaboration to help us reach the apex of this achievement.
Borlorla Town started their school building project in 2017 and was gradually progressing until unfortunately, stopped due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Since then, it has been impossible to resume due to lack of support.
